Leigh High Bulletin
Special Schedules: February 1st Staff PD day (No students), February 10th and 13th Minimum Days
Changes to Course Selections and Absences: We wrapped up our Guidance presentations and course selection yesterday. It was great getting to work with students across all three grade levels. If your student was absent the day we were in their class, we will be pulling them in on Monday and Tuesday to get the presentation and select their courses. If your student missed the window to make a change, there will be another opportunity at the end of March.
Guidance Drop-Ins: Students who need help or have questions about selecting the right courses for them can attend one of the drop-in tutorials that will began Jan 19th. There will be Guidance Advisors and Admin available in the North side of the Library every day during Tutorial through the beginning of February. Students attending have been able to get individual assistance. Please encourage your students to drop in for questions or help.
Senior Mailing: A mailing will go out early next week with a Senior Countdown Calendar, information about graduation as well as upcoming Senior events. The mailer will also be emailed and posted on our website.
Current 9th-11th Parent Information Nights: We will be holding information evening by grade level to provide you with the same information we are sharing with your student. Below are the breakdowns by grade level, date and location. We hope this event will provide you with the knowledge and tools to work with your student in the selection of their courses.

3D Printer: Leigh's Project Lead the Way program won the Rotary Club of Los Gatos President's Award of 2017 to get a 3D printer. This 3D Printer will join the one already used in the program. Congratulations PLTW and a big Thank You to the Los Gatos Rotary.
PSAT for 10th Grade: Our Sophomores will be taking the PSAT on March 7th.
WASC Updates: An updated copy of Leigh’s WASC goals and tasks has been added to the Accreditation page under About Us. It is in pdf form on the right side of the page about halfway down. This is a condensed version of the progress report that will be submitted to the committee in the next couple of weeks. There will be a WASC Info night held before our visit which is March 27th and 28th. I am also looking for parents who would like to participate in our visit and be part of the parent group that meets with the visiting committee. Please contact Kara Butler at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested.
Facilities Update: Previously, Leigh was expected to grow to 2300 but the new demographers report has us not going over 1800. There were several factors including some construction projects that fell through that changed those numbers. Therefore, our bond work will be focused on our current structures. There will be an opportunity to provide feedback on proposed projects in the near future. We are fortunate to have students and parents sitting on the district Facilities Committee to represent Leigh in the overall planning.
