Performing Arts: Leigh's Winter Percussion Ensemble is headed to California High this weekend to perform in Scholastic World division of the Northern California Percussion Alliance. Cheer them on Saturday night at Cal High. Leigh's Winter Guard is heading to Amador High School Saturday Night to compete in the Scholastic AA division of the California Color Guard Circuit. Tickets are $10.
Breakfast/Lunch Menu and Program Changes: The CUHSD Food Service department is pleased to announce changes to the school breakfast and lunch program. Starting on February 13th, 2017 a new nutritious menu will offer quality, variety and flexibility. Meals will be made fresh daily. At lunch students will be able to choose from a daily offering of delicious deli salads and sandwiches, grill items, choice of pizza, and multiple choices of fruits & vegetables. Hot fresh and delicious breakfast will be offered before school and at the morning break. Breakfast choices will include breakfast sandwiches, pastries, bagels, yogurt, hot cereal, cold cereal and choices of fruit. A variety of low-fat and fat-free milk including chocolate and strawberry will be offered with all meals.
We know at times that change can be hard. Some of the more obvious changes that students will see include, a limit on the amount of bread/grain items now served, stricter control on meat/meat alternate (protein) serving sizes, and unlimited fruits and/or vegetable servings. But with your support, we can be sure that students adopt the kind of healthful eating habits and lifestyles that will enable them to live longer, more productive lives.
Meal prices will not change, they continue to be a great value at: $1.25 for breakfast and $3.25 for lunch.
Welcome Back! Our Junior Guidance Advisor has returned this week and we are thrilled to have her back. She has jumped back in working with students and planning for next year’s schedule. Welcome Back Ms. Pula, we missed you.
Senior Info on Website: The packet of information mailed home to Seniors is posted on our website under Activities/Extracurriculars on Senior News Page. We will continue to update this page as more information goes out regarding end-of-year activities. Here is the LINK for your convenience.
WASC Updates: An updated copy of Leigh’s WASC goals and tasks has been added to the Accreditation page under About Us. It is in pdf form on the right side of the page about halfway down. This is a condensed version of the progress report that will be submitted to the committee in the next couple of weeks. There will be a WASC Info night held before our visit which is March 27th and 28th. I am also looking for parents who would like to participate in our visit and be part of the parent group that meets with the visiting committee. Please contact Kara Butler at email@example.com if you are interested.
What are Leigh Students Up To?
Patrick H. Fang got a PERFECT score on the PSAT! Way to go Patrick! We also had a number of other 11th graders who scored a 1400 or above. We anticipate a larger number of Leigh students qualifying as National Merit Semi-Finalists out of this group. And we had twenty four (24) more 11th graders take the PSAT this year and our Mean score was seventy-two(72) points higher. Great job Junior class.
Leigh won 2nd place in the California Thespian One-Act Competition with 21 Chump Street; a 15-minute musical from the creator of Hamilton. Way to go Leigh Thespians!
Chris Askins, Leigh’s National Merit Semi-Finalist, has received another amazing distinction having been selected as one of a few Presidential Scholars. This recognition is one of the highest in the nation with only just over one hundred students being selected nationally. Congrats Chris!
