Staffing Update: Crystal Adams, our Activities Director, is currently filling in as an Assistant Principal for Mr. Warren who is out.  We do not yet know how long it will be. We appreciate Crystal for stepping in and appreciate Mike Posey for supporting Leadership during this time. Crystal is working closely with Craig Williams in the areas of Student Discipline, Campus Supervision, and general support. She can be reached at cadams@cuhsd.org.

 

Clocks Fall Back: Reminder that Daylight Savings Time happens this Sunday. All clocks need to be turned back one hour.

 

 

Leigh Bond Facilities Update: Be on the lookout for a voiceover video sharing the current plans and phasing for our many Bond projects. And check out our newest page on our website under About Us called Leigh Construction and Modernization. There is currently a map showing future projects with more information and pictures to be added as we move through our phases.

See’s Candy for the Holidays: Order your favorite See’s Candies from the Leigh PAPA Fundraiser!  You can also buy Gift Certificates for later in the year as well.  Order forms were distributed to students the week of October 23rd or you can download the order form.  PAPA earns a percentage back for each item sold!  Orders are due by November 13th, and delivery will be shortly after Thanksgiving break.

Stay Warm this Winter with Frontier Soups: Winter Percussion is going warm and healthy this season with a soup fundraiser. Proceeds from the sale will help the ensemble travel to Dayton, Ohio for the WGI Worlds Competition. These ready to make, healthy soups are a great way to stay warm during the winter season. View the available soups to see the variety available. Many are gluten free and freezable. Orders can be taken between November 2nd and December 4th and given directly to a Winter Percussion member or placed in the "green box" in Room 74. Checks can be made payable to Leigh PAPA. THANK YOU Leigh!!!! Mattress Fundraiser and Haunted House a Success: Thank you to everyone who supported Leigh’s Sweet Dreams Mattress Fundraiser and the Theater Department’s Haunted House.  The Haunted House this year was spooktacular and scared over 2,000 ticket buyers who also filled themselves with over $675 in concessions sales. This past weekend 64 mattresses and 85 accessories were sold, earning the Performing Arts $12,000.

 

Winter Guard Clinic and Information Meeting: Leigh is gearing up for the 2017-2018 Winter Guard season with our parent meeting and clinics. Come and learn what Winter Guard is all about! Those who love to dance are encouraged to attend.  No previous experience is necessary.  At the meeting, we will review the entire season and answer questions, including the schedule, budget, travel and volunteer opportunities.

What is Leigh Staff Up To: Bryan Ringsted, Theater Arts Department Head, Honored by Harbor Freight Earlier this semester the Leigh High School Theater Arts Department's parent volunteer group, ACTS, submitted a nomination of Performing Arts Department Chair/Theater Arts Department Head Bryan Ringsted for the Harbor Freight Tools for Schools Prize for Teaching Excellence. The goal, to honor outstanding teaching in the skilled trades in U.S. public high schools recognizing teaching excellence in the skilled trades that enables students to learn deeply and be career-ready. Bryan becoming one of the 54 semifinalists from 693 submissions — making him one of the top 8% of teachers/teacher teams to advance to the next round. This past week, Bryan Ringsted, Leigh High School Theater Arts Department Head, was honored as a skilled trades teacher and earned a 3rd place prize of $1000 Harbor Freight gift card for the school/Theater Department!

Bryan said, "I'm excited for the department, as I'll be able to upgrade our tool inventory with this and provide more opportunities for our technical theater students, as well as a more immersive theatrical experience for our students and patrons. Our department is already excellent, but this will enrich us even more."
