Jessica Prouty

Hello! My name is Jessica Prouty and I have been teaching at Leigh since 2005. At Leigh, I have taught Earth Science, Life Science, Biology Honors, Biology, AP Biology and Chemistry! I attended UC Davis for my undergrad work and received a BS in Biology with a minor in English. Biology has always been my first love. However, reading is one of my favorite pass times, so I minored in English as a way to break up all the lab science courses I had to take. Then, I moved back to the Bay Area and got my teaching credential and Masters of Education at Santa Clara University. I currently live in the Leigh community and love the students and families.

I have 2 children (Gianna & Weston) who keep me busy outside of school! As a family, we love doing anything outdoors like camping, hiking, and swimming. In my spare time, I equal parts love to exercise and get outside as well as sit down and read a good book. Some random facts about me are that I play the piano and love to paint. My goal as a teacher to excite students about science and introduce them to the myriad careers available to them. I love that science is never static and that I can always update and change what I am teaching based on current research and discoveries.
