Bio

Hello! My name is Jennifer Dougherty, “Dr. D” to my students. I teach Chemistry and one section of Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID).

I attended UC Santa Cruz as an undergrad and received a B.S in Earth Sciences. I worked for the U.S Geological Survey in Menlo Park as a geochemist for 7 years before returning to graduate school. I attended Stanford University and received a M.S/Ph.D in Civil & Environmental Engineering specializing in environmental chemistry. I continued at Stanford as a Lecturer, teaching a lab-based course on applied analytical chemistry. Following that I worked on a project on the dechlorination of DDT/E in off-shore sediments along Palos Verdes, CA as a Postdoctoral Scholar at Stanford. I returned to San Francisco State University to pursue a teaching credential so I could teach science in middle & high school.

In my spare time, I enjoy traveling with my husband, doing yoga, riding my bike, and reading.
