Leigh High School

Principal's Welcome

Since joining the Leigh staff as Principal in 2015, it's been my pleasure to work with some of the most dedicated educators and hardworking students in California. Leigh is home to a comprehensive, rigorous academic program and offers a wide variety of extracurriculars to engage students. We strive to live by our values: Community, Integrity, and Growth.

I'd like to welcome all new and returning students and their families and thank the community for your continued support. The passage of bond measure AA in 2016 has allowed us to move forward with several major facilities improvement projects that have already had a positive impact on student learning and activities.

To maintain strong communication, I encourage all parents to create School Loop accounts to stay in touch with your student's teachers. You can also follow us on Facebook and Twitter to see what we're up to on campus. There are many ways to get involved with Leigh's many booster organizations, and a strong partnership between parents and the school will ensure success for all students. I look forward to working with you this year and in years to come.

Go Longhorns!

--Kara Butler, Principal

Leigh is one of five comprehensive high schools in Campbell Union High School District (CUHSD). Since 1962, Leigh has served residents of mostly single-family homes in the areas of Los Gatos and southwest San Jose. With low residential turnover, most students complete all four years at Leigh, and many parents of current students are also Leigh alumni.

Leigh provides a comprehensive curriculum that includes instructional programs designed for college-bound, Special Education, and career technical education (CTE) students. Students may elect to take the following Advanced Placement (AP) courses at Leigh:

Leigh’s students have historically scored above state averages on required achievement tests as well as the SAT, ACT, and Advanced Placement tests. In 2019, about 80% of all seniors had met the A-G requirements for UC/CSU. A vast majority of Leigh graduates choose to attend college after graduation, with about 60% going straight to a 4-year program and about 35% going to a community college. Combined, fewer than 5% of Leigh seniors elect to join the military or workforce, attend a vocational school, or remain undecided about their plans at the time of graduation.

In addition to rigorous academics, Leigh boasts award-winning music, athletic, and visual arts programs and has sixty clubs to serve students' interests.
