Celeste Smiley

I am Celeste Smiley and I have been teaching at Leigh since 2005 in the Social Science Department. I am a Leigh High School graduate and I feel so lucky to both have attended and now teach at such an amazing school. I have taught World Geography, U.S. History, and Government. I currently teach both Psychology (on-level) and AP Psychology, which is an elective course for both juniors and seniors.

I received my BS in Psychology from Cal Poly State University in San Luis Obispo. I worked in Human Resources at several startups (during the dot com boom) for five years, but decided that I wanted to return to my passion and work with high school students. I returned to school and got my teaching credential and Masters in Education at National University. I was then hired at Leigh by my own Government teacher that I had when I was a student at Leigh.

I am married and have four children so we keep very busy with the kids' extracurricular activities. We love taking our kids on adventures and we especially love to travel. I enjoy photography, reading, hiking, and anything else that will take me to a new place to explore. I love teaching Psychology because the content is so applicable to students’ lives and it teaches them valuable life skills that will help improve their overall well-being throughout their lives. I feel so fortunate that our district offers this amazing course to our students and I feel so lucky that I get to teach it!
