Principal

Horns Up Longhorns! My name is Kara Butler and I have had the privilege of being the Leigh Principal since fall of 2016. I got my undergrad in English at Chico State and both my teaching and Admin credentials at San Jose State. I taught both English and ELD before jumping into Administration. I have been an Administrator for the past twenty six years at both the middle and high school levels.

I married my amazing husband Todd in 1990. He is a middle school math teacher, coach, and Athletic Director in the Cupertino Union School District. We have two sons, Jake, who works in the tech field at NASA, and Will, who is a mechanic and drift car fabricator in training.

One of the many highlights in my time at Leigh was being the Principal during my son, Will’s, senior year and getting to hand him his diploma.
