What are Leigh Teachers Up To?

Marita Beard: Our very own Marita Beard flew as part of NASA’s Sofia Mission this last week. Click this LINK to see info about the educators selected for the program and this LINK for more info about the actual mission as it was unfolding. We are very proud of Ms. Beard and her contributions.

Bryan Ringstead: Bryan recently learned he was one of fifty-four(54) teachers who has moved on as a semi-finalist for a Harbor Freight Tools for Schools Prize for Teaching Excellence. There were 693 applicants that these 54 were chosen from and should Bryan be selected as a winner, he and Leigh’s Drama program could win as much as $100,000. The next step is the selection of ten(10) finalist which will be announced on October 10th and the three winners from that will be announced on October 23rd. Congratulations for making it this far and good luck on going all the way Bryan. Leigh is proud of you and the drama program.

PSAT Sign Ups for Juniors- Limited numbers left! Please be sure your Junior signs up for the PSAT if they have any intention of attending a four-year college. This is a great practice test for them and if they do well enough they could become a National Merit Scholar. This is a very prestigious acknowledgement of the top performing students and at the highest level, does have a scholarship award. The test costs 25.00, is on October 11th, and is being sold in the Main Office. We did not order one for every Junior so supplies are limited.

Home and School Club Meeting: Come by the Library at 7:00pm this Monday, September 18th for our monthly HSC meeting. This is a great way to stay connected to what is happening at Leigh and weigh in on how donations are spent. Hope to see you there.
