Graduation Requirements

To graduate and receive a diploma from Leigh High School, students must earn a total of 220 credits and pass the required courses with a grade of D or better.

To ensure all CUHSD graduates have the option to enroll directly into a university and be prepared for a career, the District has aligned its graduation requirements with the University of California (UC) and California State University (CSU) A-G requirements. The A-G / College Entrance Requirements are a sequence of high school courses that students must complete (with a grade of C or better) to be minimally eligible for admission to a UC or CSU. The graduation requirements for Leigh meet or exceed the minimum admissions requirement for a UC or CSU.

High School Graduation Requirements

Students are required to take the following core subjects: English, Math, Science, Social Science, World Languages, VAPA, and Physical Education. Students are also required to take electives - these are courses outside of the required core curriculum that give students the opportunity to explore specific areas of study they are interested in.

There are two types of electives:
  1. College approved electives - students can satisfy this graduation requirement by going above and beyond the required graduation courses (such as a 4th year of Social Science, a 4th year of Math, a 4th year of Science, a 3rd year of world language, and/or additional VAPA or CTE above and beyond the required years).
  2. General electives - these are courses approved for high school graduation but not as a college prep course (two such classes are available at Leigh: AVID Peer Tutoring and Student Assistant).
All courses available at Leigh are listed in the Course Catalog.
