The lack of manufacturing skills has created a skills gap and it's a serious issue going forward. One thing that is important is finding top talent to join the manufacturing force and breaking down the stigma that surrounds this world. Propel, a local company with experience in the world of manufacturing, used some of their expertise and put together a Manufacturing Skills Guide and included some insight on how they could solve this issue. Also, for those who are new to the industry they made a definitions guide, 95 Manufacturing Definitions, on the most important terms in manufacturing.

  • Join the Armed Forces. There are many ways to be successful. To figure out where to find career satisfaction, you need all the facts about your skills and interests, the world of work, and your post-secondary options to make informed decisions.The ASVAB Career Exploration Program includes a validated aptitude test and interest assessment. The results are used to guide career exploration using our career planning tools.  Resources to prepare for the ASVAB can be found here.
  • ROTC Programs: The Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) is a college program offered at more than 1,700 colleges and universities across the United States that prepares young adults to become officers in the U.S. Military. In exchange for a paid college education and a guaranteed post-college career, participants, or cadets, commit to serve in the Military after graduation. Each Service branch has its own take on ROTC.
