Cell Phone Policy and Yondr Pouches
Student Phone Policy & Guidelines
Leigh is a phone-free community. Each student will be assigned a personal Yondr Pouch for the 2026-2027 school year. While the pouch remains school property, students are responsible for bringing it to school daily and keeping it in working condition. Phones must be secured in the pouch at the start of 1st/3rd period and remain there until the end of the school day.
Daily Process
Upon arrival to class, students will:
- Turn their phone off or switch it to airplane mode.
- Place their phone/earbuds/smart watch all inside their Yondr pouch and lock it in the presence of their 1st or 3rd period teacher.
- Keep the pouched phone with them throughout the school day.
At the end of the school day, students will unlock their pouch, retrieve their electronic devices and re-close the pouch in order to protect the locking mechanism from damage. Pouches must be brought to and from school each day.
Note: SVCTE and students arriving late or leaving early will Yondr/unYondr their phones in the Main Office in the presence of any staff there. Students will be given a late pass as proof that they’ve pouched their phone.
Violations
Pouch Damage / Lost Pouch / Unauthorized Phone Use
If a student is found using their phone or has damaged their pouch, administration or campus security will collect the device and document the occurrence. On the second occurrence, parents must pick up the device at the end of the day. On the third occurrence students will be required to turn in their device to the front office every day for a week. A fourth occurrence will result in Friday detention and a parent meeting with administration.
If a Yondr pouch is damaged or lost the replacement fee of $30 will be assessed or some other restitution if a family is unable to pay.
Damage includes: Bent locking pin, ripped fabric, deep scratches or visible damage to the lock surface
Forgotten Pouches
If a student forgets their pouch, their phone will be collected by school staff and the phone will be returned at the end of the day. Repeatedly forgetting a pouch will require a behavior contract devised during a parent-administration discussion.
*Campus Security and Administration reserve the right to conduct random pouch checks at any time throughout the year in order to confirm compliance with this policy.
