About Ms. Griswold (Ms. G)

My name is Maria Griswold and I teach English 1 at Leigh, and I couldn't be happier to be back! I was fortunate enough to do my student teaching here during the 2018-2019 school year and fell in love with the amazing kids and wonderful staff.

 

Prior to student teaching at Leigh, I was no stranger to the district since I am also a graduate of CUHSD. I graduated Del Mar High School back in 2012 and received my bachelor's, as well as my teaching credential, from San Jose State. Go Spartans!

 

As a teacher, I pride myself in creating a safe, welcoming, and creative learning environment for students to thrive. I also like to put a modern twist on some of our units that feature classic works of literature. I feel that by giving the students a fresh perspective with creative lessons, I can help them engage and understand these timeless classics in a fun way. 

 

In my downtime I enjoy reading, painting, nerding out, drinking coffee, and spending time with my little black cat, Luna.
