About Ms. Patterson

Hello! My name is Laura Patterson. I joined Leigh in the 2025–26 school year. I currently teach IM1 and IM3/STEM. I previously taught in East Side Union High School District. 

 

I have a B.E. in Chemical Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology, as well as an MA in Teaching from San Jose State University. I worked as an engineering risk consultant for several years prior to returning to school for my teaching credential. I care deeply about creating a comfortable and safe environment for students to learn mathematics. My high school math teachers are the reason I became an engineer!

 

I was born and raised in Northern Virginia. Outside of school, I love spending time with my husband and our families, reading on my Kindle, and taking pilates classes.
