About Ms. Nguyen

 

My name is Samantha Nguyen (last name pronounced "NWIN"), and I use she/her pronouns. I earned both my B.S. in Environmental Science and my life science teaching credential at UC Berkeley. I started teaching in 2017 at El Cerrito HS, and I joined the FamLeigh in 2022. Over my teaching career, I have taught everything from Biology to Sheltered Biology for ELL students to Applied Research Methods to AP Environmental Science, and this year, I'll be teaching 9th grade Biology at Leigh. I'm excited to bring my experience and passion for project-based learning, building a community of learners, restorative justice, and culturally-responsive teaching as the lens through which I teach.

 
Apart from teaching, I am also a professional lindy hop dancer who competes, performs, teaches, and travels to dance. I love playing board games (I own probably 100+ games...) and watching crime/mystery/procedural shows on Netflix. I also enjoy hiking and being outdoors, and I'm always looking for new recipes to cook or restaurants to try.
