Mr. Shaughnessy

I am entering my 6th year at Leigh. Prior to coming to Leigh, I was the PE Department Chair and Head Football Coach at Leland High School. I have taught and coached at the High School and College level all around the Bay Area for the past 27 years, including a year on the Football staff at my alma mater, UC Berkeley.

I earned my B.A. in History at UC Berkeley where I was a member of four National Championship Rugby teams for the legendary coach Jack Clark.  I earned my Secondary Single Subject Teaching Credential in Social Studies, and my Masters in Educational Administration from San Francisco State University.  I also earned my Physical Education Teaching Credential form Hayward State University.

I grew up in the Richmond-Berkeley area of the East Bay, the son of iconic High School Football Coach Dan Shaughnessy who got me started in coaching after playing for him during his 60 year coaching career highlighted by nearly 300 career victories. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my 7 year old daughter.
