The Mental Health and Wellness Team includes our Leigh administrative staff, School Counselors, Cassy and Uplift Therapists, Wellness Coordinator, Wellness Center Planning and Outreach Specialist, Mental Health and Wellness Committee of Home & School Club, and Mental Health and Wellness related student clubs.

Carolina Mora Barney
Wellness Center Coordinator
 
Carolina manages the day to day activities of the Wellness Center. She checks students in and out, provides health education resources to students, and collaborates with the Wellness Team to connect students with counseling and community services. Carolina will set up mental health and wellness related programs at Leigh with an emphasis on student involvement.
 
 
 
LaurelLaurel Garceau
Assistant Principal
 
Laurel is an Assistant Principal at Leigh High School and she is excited to be working with the Wellness Center. She is passionate about the well-being of our students and it has been an honor to work with the parents from the Home and School Club who made this idea a reality. Laurel is a certified yoga instructor and she meditates every day so she practices what she preaches. We hope the students make good use of the Wellness Center and that they are able to find balance and peace through its use. Priya is a licensed clinical psychologist with more than 15 years of clinical, research, consultation, and teaching experience. Priya's role as consultant for the Wellness Center includes collaborating with the Wellness Team to plan and execute the opening of the center. She will provide ongoing leadership and support to help set up mental health and wellness related programs at Leigh with an emphasis on student involvement and social-emotional learning. Funding for this role is provided by the Leigh Home & School Club.

Kristin is a parent at Leigh who collaborated with Principal Butler to create the Wellness Center. She continues to support the development of education and programming at the Wellness Center, as well as outreach to parents and students.
 

 
 
CASSY Therapists
 
One on one counseling is provided to our students through a district partnership with CASSY (Counseling and Support Services for Youth). CASSY is a nonprofit agency that partners with schools to provide professional mental health services to students in their academic setting. Our therapists are compassionate, extremely competent and conveniently located right on campus. All services are free to our student and their parents. To make an appointment with a therapist, students need to see their school counselor first.

Laura Egli is one of our CASSY Therapists on campus. She has a bachelors in Psychology and a masters in Marriage and Family therapy and Art Therapy. Laura provides individual therapy, group therapy, as well as drop in crisis support. Her office is in room 38A at the end of the K building. Torion
Torion Oey
Associate Marriage and Family Therapist
CASSY Therapist
 
Torion is one of our CASSY therapist's on campus Tuesdays, Thursdays, and every other Friday. He has a bachelor's in psychology and creative writing and a master's in psychology. Torion provides individual therapy, group therapy, and drop-in crisis support. His room is in the counselor's office within the main office. UPLIFT Therapists
 
One on one counseling is provided to our students through a district partnership with Uplift Family Services. Uplift Family Services is one of the largest behavioral health treatment providers in California. One of the programs provided by Uplift is early intervention and therapy to students and families who are suffering from a mental health issue. These services utilize evidence-based practices and include parent workshops, youth groups, and individual and family therapy. Our Uplift therapist works in collaboration with our teachers and parents to support our students. To make an appointment with a therapist, students need to see their school counselor first.
