Joyce Washington

Aloha! I am Joyce Washington and currently Leigh’s registrar. I was born and raised in Hawaii. I graduated with a BA in Psychology from the University of Hawaii. During my college years, I participated in an exchange program where I was able to attend the University of Oregon for one year and pay in-state tuition.  It was a great opportunity for me to experience “mainland” college life. It was there I met my future husband.  When he moved to San Jose, I joined him.

I worked for many years in accounting but when my company moved out of state, it was an opportunity to change careers. I became the library aide at Dartmouth Middle School and later at Leigh High School. (These were the schools my sons attended.) After 10+ years working in school libraries, I made the transition to my current position as Leigh’s registrar.

When not at school, I enjoy spending time with my family, especially my grandchildren.
