About Mrs. Van Horne

Hello, my name is Yoomi Van Horne, and I am thrilled to teach IM2 at Leigh this year. Prior to this role, I taught various high school math courses ranging from Algebra 1 to Precalculus-Honors at Lynbrook, Prospect, and Monta Vista High School. I love supporting my students to gain confidence in math and helping them discover the inherent beauty in mathematics.

I was born in Seoul, Korea but grew up in Sydney, Australia where I earned my Bachelor of Dentistry degree from the University of Sydney. I worked as a dentist for many years before moving to the US when I got married. I found my passion for teaching through substitute teaching when my kids got older and earned my Master's degree in Teaching from Santa Clara University.

In my spare time, I love spending time with my family, walking my dog, cooking, and having geeky math/physics discussions.
