Mrs. Nakamura

Hello! My name is Beth Nakamura and I currently teach English 4 and AP English Literature & Composition. I graduated with a BA in English Literature from Westmont College in Santa Barbara, CA. I earned my teaching credential at San Jose State University. I have always loved reading and writing, but on my very first day as a student teacher, I knew right away that I was going to love this career as well. Working with students to develop their writing voices and to discover great books is my favorite part of the job.

I started teaching at Leigh in August, 2004. Leigh is also my alma mater, so I've spent about 20 years on this campus. (Thankfully, I only occasionally get back-to-high-school deja vu when walking the halls.) In addition to teaching, I am one of the Link Crew Coordinators, helping to welcome the new ninth grade class to Leigh each year.

Outside of school, I am a mom to two awesome kids: Evelyn (8) and Emmett (6). As a family, we like to do craft projects, take mini-vacations in California, and find the best ice cream in the Bay Area. I also like to read, go to my book club and watch good movies.
