Message from Ana Briones Gonzalez, Community Liaison

ana the community liaison

My name is Ana Briones, and I am honored to serve as your community liaison here at Leigh.

I myself am a CUHSD alumna graduating from Del Mar High School, as well as graduating from San Jose State University with a BA in Social Work. Before joining Leigh, I worked at Boynton High School as a Special Educational Aide, where I supported students in the classroom and advocated for their needs. I also had the privilege of serving as a former president of my neighborhood association, where I helped address residents' needs, organize events, collaborate with resource organizations, and empower residents to advocate for themselves. These experiences strengthen my commitment to advocacy.

As community liaison, I hope to strengthen the connection between families and our school by creating meaningful engagement opportunities and providing resources that help our students and families succeed. I believe that when families are informed, supported, and connected, entire communities thrive, which ultimately benefits our students as a whole. I look forward to partnering with you and working together to serve our students and strengthen our Leigh community.

Please feel free to reach out.

Warmly,

Ana

How does the Community Liaison support the Leigh community?

The Leigh bilingual Community Liaison supports students, parents, staff, and community groups in a variety of ways including
  • Assisting in Leigh’s ELAC (English Learner Advisory Committee) meetings and promoting the participation of parents of our diverse population.
  • Assisting in “Noche Latina” meetings, a Spanish Speaking Parent Participation Program at Leigh dedicated to providing the tools parents need to actively participate and help their students to strive during high school and beyond.
  • Helping connect families with appropriate resources at school and in the community.
  • Assisting with registration/data confirmation at the start of the school year.
  • Aiding communication between the school, teachers, and parents.
  • Translating transcripts, emails, announcements, meetings with teachers and office administration.
As a parent, if you have any questions or concerns about your student’s academic performance, attendance, ways to help at home, etc. feel free to contact Ana by phone, email or stop by. It will be a pleasure to meet and help you!

Show your student that school matters, and that you are invested in their success by being involved in school activities! Also, demonstrate to your student that success in school is the pathway to college, a career and a productive life!
